An Alkaline diet was made popular by Dr. Sebi, a pathologist, herbalist, biochemist, intracellular therapist and naturalist, who was litigated in 1988 in the New York City Supreme Court and faced civil and criminal charges for practicing medicine without a license. Although not a licensed physician, over 70 witnesses had testified that their health was improved as a result of his USHA Village dietary program; after the prosecution failed to convince the jury that Sebi did in fact make a medical diagnosis, he was later found not guilty. Sebi's USHA Village dietary program is based an Alkaline diet which consist of a list of natural foods, natural spring water, plain ripe fruit; non-starchy vegetables, especially leafy greens; raw nuts and nut butters; and grains like quinoa, rye or kamut. Avoid hybrid foods, gmo & acidic foods, which include all animal products, meat, poultry, seafood, products containing a leavening agent all seedless fruits, insect-or weather-resistant crops like corn or certain tomatoes, and anything with added vitamins or minerals like yeast, synthetic or processed items, alcohol, sugar, iodized salt or anything fried.
